Feces with a lot of hair could be racoons. Coons tend to pick one spot and let it pile up there.

There is possible asbestos in vermiculite. I see only some kind of wool. Rock wool is not likely to be a hazard of any kind, except for the dust being abrasive.

Old plaster is likely to contain asbestos fibres or fibers.

It was used as a bonding material, so serves some function, provides a bit of a fire proof barrier, and is harmless while sealed with paint.
Costly to take to the dump, and dust will get everywhere when it is pulled down.

I concur with Garry.
We need compelling sample analyses before it goes into a report.

No taste test, pick you taster, I say feces, which in itself, does a long way in explaining condition of the attic space, and the recommendation therein, is visible feces.
Although a cat would have tried to cover it up.

As for the insulation material, 5 will be you ten, give the fleece a good cleaning, shrink the fleece, tease and pick, start spinning yarns, and you would likely make several dozen socks, and still have the waste to use as insulation.

Asbestos was utilized up until 1980 in the manufacturing process of household building materials. There are several types of asbestos. Not all a health concern.

Now who is going to taste that feces?

We had families of coons in our last place, close to the beach.
I closed off under the garden shed with perforated soffit covers, to keep Mama from having babies under there.

They go nuts for cat food, especially with the finger bowl right there.
They had only two places where they would poop.
