I guessing it is much older then 2003. I have never seen that brand before but have done HVAC for 20 plus years. I thinking late seventies to mid eighties. Just from the style of the boiler and some of the controls. But again I am guessing.

What I saw posted on the "other" forum was that in 2000 Peerless started with the six digits at the end of the serial number, starting with 4-digit year.

    John,

Does that look closer to being 4 years old or to being 20 years old?

    Cool Re: boiler age?

7th week of 2003 is my guess. Not 20 yrs old with an Energy Star sticker on it. Another way to tell without contacting the mfr. is to compare input BTUs to output. Clunkers might be in the 60% range. Modern oil boilers are approx 84-86% AFUE.

Sometimes you will see the ANSI Std. date, which tells you it cannot be any older than that.

Thanks Bob. It was in the low 80% range, and with the Energy Star, as you say, and general appearance, I think 2003 is right. I wrote to Peerless, too. It's venting into an old, unlined brick chimney, of course.
