    Default brick and block questions

    New construction townhomes.
All of them have the exposed bricks above the entrance, and the honey-comb item between the blocks.
    I've never seen either before.

Yes, as far as I can tell.

Lintel, by the way, not lentil. Although, I do like lentils!

Plastic screen to prevent insect entry, very common on weep holes.

Thanks! Not common around these parts, obviously.

As others have said, those are head joint inserts which serve as weep holes, however, the problem I see is improperly laid bricks, improperly corbeled bricks (which leads to an improperly supported wall), and not through the wall flashing (which is required to be extended all the way out to the edge of the lintel).

That's what I see at first glance, may be more with a better looksee .

Is that veneer bowing or is that just a photo affect/distortion?

Check out the attached, looks exactly like what you have pictured regarding the rectangular weep with stainless screen, presuming there's still some cotton sash cord set up - too new to have rotted away yet or been picked out by a bird or rodent for nesting material, right?

here is a direct link to the web for what i've attached (for those who prefer that method of access): http://www.masonpro.com/productdatas...weeps_wick.pdf

Methinks she's gonna leak after a few good directional rains.
