Default Ever seen a flue like this?

I was on the roof of this house and took a peak down the one of the flues and this is what I saw. There were two flue tiles coming out of the chimney chase. One was for the furnace and water heater. The one in the picture was for the fireplace in the basement and the fireplace in the living room. The picture doesn't do this setup justice. There were two copper gas lines retrofitted into the fireplaces with one going through the cleanout door and the other, they just knocked a hole in the side of the flue liner and fed it through that way. It was quite the setup.

I adjusted the brightness and contrast to show the inside better.

Cool Re: Ever seen a flue like this?

You're saying two fireplaces shared this one common flue? Let me get this straight:
    common vented fireplaces
copper gas lines in the flue
    tiles broken out
    mis-aligned tiles
    mortar missing/ eroded
gas line routed through chimney wall???

So, what was your recommendation or comment on this? Good catch.
    Bob

Keep the fire in the fireplace.
