    Clay this PDF was posted just last week. Look at page 1, Gas meter set assembly locations. 3 feet needed. Local utility may differ.

    2ft. clearance for work space is exactly what is recommended in this area.

    Others may vary.

    I'd be more concerned about the amount of water that's going to dump in that area.

    Clay. Sorry misunderstood your question as did others. I know of no walkway standard. You stated. I measured from where approximately the gas meter would be located to the fence (24")....is there any standard, requirment on distance for walkpath in a yard (like in a hallway). Seems 24" would be too narrow.
    I gave you a standard from PDF for Puget sound area and stated Local utility may differ as did Rick. I think your splitting hairs here. Not sure why you are concerned about clearance for walking between the gas meter and fence and not "structures that restrict access to meter set assembly" as stated in PDF. 3 FT to fence. To each there own. Just trying to help.
