Remove tapped drain. Not an approved connection.
Also appears to be incorrect sealing at PVC joints

Re: How do I write this up?
IRC code [1411.3] states that condensate
should have no direct connection to waste or vent pipe.

Re: How do I write this up?
What version of the IRC are you reading? I can't seem to find a single edition where it states what you quoted? ........
Ever seen a condensation line hooked into the tailpiece of the lav??? It is done all the time and is legal.
Is this an interpretation of that code section in your state????
Just wondering if everyone here in Az. is doing their jobs incorrectly.

Inspector bob,
First, welcome to THE home inspectors board.
Secondly, we all use our real names here, so, if you would, please click on the 'Contact Us' link at the bottom of the page and Brian will reset your user name to your real name.
Unfortunately, yeah.
It is done all the time and is legal.
Please provide your code backup.
Here is mine.
A/C condensate is an indirect waste, and as such, is required to be connected through an indirect waste fitting, an air gap.
From the 2006 IRC. (underlining is mine)
- P2706.3 Prohibited waste receptors.Plumbing fixtures that are used for domestic or culinary purposes shall not be used to receive the discharge of indirect waste piping.
- - Exceptions:- - - 1. A kitchen sink trap is acceptable for use as a receptor for a dishwasher.
- - - 2. A laundry tray is acceptable for use as a receptor for a clothes washing machine.
You will, quite hopefully, have already noticed that: a) exception 1. is for kitchen sinks and ONLY allows indirect waste from a dishwasher; b) exception 2. is for a laundry tray (i.e, a laundry sink) and ONLY allows indirect waste from a clothes washer; c) that there is no 3. for anything else, not even a vanity.
My apologies for the tone of the above response, but your first post carries the same tone toward the other poster, as shown below.

Hopefully, you will contact Brian and have him change your username, then continue to post here as we can all learn from each other, as long as we do it "nicely", otherwise, bad attitudes can be treated with equal responses.
