    Cool!

Except ... I've got gutter screens which keep almost all of the pine needles out of them, they would interfere with that cleaning action ... oh pooh.

Do they make them so they can turn corners? If they did, I could set one in the gutter and let it crawl all the way around the house and right back to me ... that's be really cool!

those gutters looked pretty dry to me. I'd like to see a true test. I also like the convienient belt attachment that lets all the goo and crud on the treads drip all over your pants.

I just saw a print add for that thing. The picture showed many leaves had been thrown back up on the shingles. Online comments from proud owners indicate the unit bogs down in wet leaves, slips when gutters are wet, the antenna can get stuck under the shingles, it has a short battery life and if the resistance on the auger is enough it will cause the unit to flip over.

    What a swell gift!

It looks to me like they are masters at internet marketing of this product. For all the reasons mentioned here moisture, space, turns, repositioning, non continous gutters and having to climb up there in the first place makes me amazed they can sell the product. If anyone succesfully uses this in the State of CT I would love to see it. I have cleaned gutters that was hard to even pull out the material by hand let alone a spinning blade

Too funny... all of the complaints you mention were exactly what I was going to post. Up here in Oregon we have some pretty wet and soggy leaves. That thing would burn out after about 18" in my gutters. I notice that in all of their demos the gutters about 2/3 full with dry leaves.... hardly normal conditions.

This is the classic example of what a cheap product and some marketing will do for you. You sell 100 widgets at a HUGE profit.... Say, worst case scenario 1/2 of the people actually complain within the 90 days and want their money back. You still make out with a bunch of money.

Here is a story related to that ...

A man is selling his old mule for $50.

An old backwoods farmer makes arrangements to buy the mule, he rides out to the farm where the mule is to pay the money and pick up his mule, but, when he arrives, the farmer selling the mule tells him "I am sorry, but that mule just died, hopefully you did not have to make a long trip."

The old back woods farmer looks at the dead mule laying there and says "I will buy her anyway, here is your $50."

The farmer looks at the old backwoods farmer and think 'That guy must be crazy.' and says "Okay, but only if you are sure you want to pay $50 for a dead mule."

The transaction takes place and the old backwoods farmer hauls the mule up into his wagon and rides off.

A few months later the farmer crosses paths with the old backwoods farmer and inquiries about the mule.

The old backwoods farmer says "Oh, that mule. I raffled that mule off for $5 per ticket, I sold 100 tickets, so I did okay."

The farmer says 'But ... didn't anyone complain that the mule was dead?"

The old backwoods farmer says "Yes, the winner did, so I refunded their money."

I actually first caught onto the theory as it pertains to investing in the stock market.... A guy sells a money back 'strategy' - 100 people buy it.... at least a few of them are bound to make some money just by blind luck. No problem, you give the money back to the guys who lost and actually take the time to follow a 'long form' refund process. In the end.... a big profit for the seller.

You could run a similar scam at a casino.... offer your 'strategy' to incoming gamblers.... A few of them are bound to win.
