    Default warehouse roof cables

This is a picture of a typical corrugated steel building. The building is split into two spaces one occupied by an auto mechanic and the other just storage. The roof on the mechanics side was re-enforced with the cables shown in the picture. I assume these are hurricane or high wind re-enforcement. The storage side, which is equal in size and was built at the same time did not have these cables? Any reason or logical explaination for this? Is there a code relating to this. The warehouse was built in 1986. Metal roof replaced 2002.

Diagonal or cross wind bracing for the roof isn't always installed in every bay, the plans will spec out which bay's are braced.
