Default Fire Place and Island - 1st time for this.

What is this, Realtor sent this to me and is asking what is this and is this safe to use, cook on or what. Looks like a hood exhaust and a real fire place or is it fake? Looks real to me but I have never seen anything like this before. The top comes off for use.
    Thanks
    Dan

The prototype George Foreman grill. Never mde it to market because of shipping charges.

It looks well used, and "Fugly". I've never seen anything like it.

A grill and a fireplace with a removable top. Cool if it works. I guess that is a question for a professional, well, I don't know who exactly. Still, cool if it works and it's safe. I guess a fireplace designer for the hole ball of goods and safety.

Looks like one of those bad ideas on "Trading Spaces" on HGTV.

    .

No, not safe to use for any purpose.

The top comes off for use.
    .

That's just the flip side of one of the problems (the flip side being that the top *GOES ON*).

I can just see someone lighting up a fire with the top *ON* ... or ... even lighting up a fire with the top *off* and no proper chimney above it.

You mean like a beer to many and put the top on and go to bed.

Other than that and the questionable hood I have seen many a fireplace and or indoor grill inside and vented with some type of hood with blower. None of that looks good but a little work and probably could work. Well. A lot of work.

Thanks men, you just validated what I thought also. I have never seen anything like this. Still haven't, just the pictures. I might ask the realtor to let me look for information purposes. I can just see a fire in that fire place and then the hood exhaust quits or breaks, bad news, might as well have a fire pit in your living room.
    Thanks

    Dan,

Wood burning or gas, either way, that would have to be a proper (listed and labeled for the use) chimney (if wood burning) or vent (if gas) and be connected and sealed to the top of the firebox (which is obviously not).

Thanks Jerry, I will pass on the information to the Realtor and maybe I will get the inspection, so I will already have a heads up about this. Thanks again
