    Default Testing A/C, For Standard A/C units, heat pump, Geothermal HP

    Any documentation of when it's to cold outside to test HVAC's in A/C mode? For Heat pumps, Standard central A/C, Geothermal HP In A/C mode?

    Heat pumps basicly 65 temp rule of thumb. But where is doc's this and others?

    This horse has been beaten here before. I am sure a search would turn up the thread.
    But to answer your question, NO.
    You would need to check the instructions from the individual manufacturers. or use a rule of thumb.
    I don't test A/C below 60 even though most can be safely operated a few degrees lower.
    Heat pumps are designed to run at low temperatures, so no problem.
    Heat pumps can be damaged from operating too long when it is hot, but momentary operation is OK in my experience.
