    Default Steel I beam Question

I am about to buy a house and I'm concerned with the main steel support that spans the entire width of the house. It looks like someone ordered the wrong length and they welded a 3' section on the end to increase the span. I've never seen this before. Is it kosher?

Do you have access to the plans and permits and any other information on the home. you may want to check with your AHJ. City/County build dept for more information on the home. steel I beams can be welded or cut if then have been approved and engineered.
