    Default GE condensing unit age...???

Can anyone help with an age on this GE condensing unit?

    Model BGTA924H1L
    Serial 212615

The best I can do is from Preston's Guide with a model number of BGTA924H being 1969, 1970, or 1971.

I was thinking that the 1L at the end of the model number may have been a newer model than what I could find in Preston's. (As the unit just did not look 38-40 years old. Old, yes. But not that old.)

    Thanks.

My chart says the age is the last three numbers of the serial number. First being the year and the second and third being the week. I would say the 15 week of 1986.

    Brent,

Can I ask what chart you are referencing? How do you equate the "6" to 1986? Why not 1996, or 1976?

By the way, 1986 makes a lot more sense relative the visual appearance of the unit.

    Thanks for your time,
    Shane

Shane, I pulled the chart from a thread on here, would have to look and find it again. You are correct that it could be '86, '96, or '76. just went off of what you said that it didn't appear to be that old.

    Brent,

    Got it!

I think I have what you are looking at around here somewhere! I'll have to dig it up.

    Thanks again,
    Shane

I don't think it's 1986. By the early 80's, they had been bought by Trane.
