Floor Jacks
What is considered a proper method for suppporting floor jackson the ground? On a recent inspection I encountered what is captured in the attached photo.

Depends on what they are supporting. That one looks like it's right next to the main support pier. Why? What is it supporting.
By rights any support post should be set on a proper footing but like I said

No footing is required for that jack, because it is a temporary jack. It is not intended to be, nor should it be left in place.Like others have pointed out, why was it put there at all.

It could be a girder intersection that is missing the pier, I don't know, we can't see that part, but if a support is needed it should have an appropriate footing as well.
