Did you have your ladder on a deck? That is very dangerous you know. I guess if you keep it steep enough and the deck is dry it is ok but wood can be slippery even when dry.

Yes the ladder was on the deck and I do keep it pretty steep. It also has rubber feet to keep it from slipping. The rubber feet also help to prevent shingle damage when I use it to go from one roof level to another.

Carry 2 5-in-1 tools with you, they have good stiff blades, or two small pry bars, shove them down between two deck boards and push the ladder feet against them. They will offer a lot of resistance to further slipping on a wood deck (of course the wood has to be running the right way for those to work, however, most wood decks are laid out the right way).
