Default What is this in attic

What I inspect the attic of a 6-year new house. I saw these two bolt and nut (anchor?) sitting about 3 feet apart at the front gable. What is the name of this? Why is there?

Those are most likely connected to other rods which go down through the walls and to the foundation, holding the top plate of the walls down to the foundation.

Tension or hold down anchors is what they are.

Don't see much there to hold that gable end in place, though.

Thank you, Jerry & Jim. The location of two "anchors" is between the window and door at front. Therefore it may be the steel members for tension or shear. When I review the photo of the rear attic, another piece of anchor is there too.

But it was the thought that counted
