    Default radon emitting granite

anyone ever heard of this? A client called me about this stating they had watched a show that proposed that radon was being emitted from granite counter tops.

    Yep

That is what this planet is made of....Granite. It does emit radon. I think you will find that in most case what it giving off amounts to next to nothing but then again there "has been cases with high emmission" Personally I think it is all a bit stretched but that is just me. Some folks have some pretty strong opinions about radon as a whole.

There are past threads on this board that talk about it extensively.

My grandson still has that granite pacifier we had made. He's doing fine.

We just place the meat on our granite counter in the kitchen and let it cook to a nice med/rare. Takes a while, but by then it is also aged! Works great for Elk!

Yes, it can be an issue with some granite. Most of the granite suppliers will supply a certificate showing how much or that it is radioactive free. Some of it is "hot" and is not suppose to be sold in the States. Most of that as you can guess is coming from China!

The half-life of Radon = 1.8 hours to 3.8 days.
The half-life of Uranium = 4.5 billion years
The half-life of this topic = somewhere between the two.
