Default Not one dime will be added to the deficit

But we are going to have people in place that will handle the gov insurance plan. We are going to give tax credits to those who still cannot afford insurance. This plan will not affect one person that already has insurance. There will be a penalty or fine if you will for employers that drop health care coverage for their employees of 8 percent per employee (It cost employers more than 8% to provide so I guess they will all be dropping it.)

It will not cover illegal immigrants...................Hello.......when they go to the emergency room they will still be getting covered so whether they can opt into the plan or just outright get paid for the plan still pays for them.

For those that do not buy health insurance they will be fined an penalised.

Really....They will be penalised because they cannot afford health insurance know no matter what the cost and because the gov says they will now have to buy health insurance or be penalised....this will now be affordable to them and they will be able to afford it???????

Also......................The gov is going to mandate that no matter what is wrong with you your insurance company must pay to have it fixed. Your insurance company cannot put caps on total yearly payout and then try to charge you if you go over. Also any pre-existing conditions cannot be turned down by any insurance carrier................And this is suppose to lower health care costs......And this is suppose to make affordable health insurance for everyone even though they cannot afford it now. If you are paying rent or mortgage and your bills and your food and car and insurance for the home and car and electric bill and phone bill ...and you have no money left.......why does health insurance suddenly become affordable, no matter what the cost.

They did this is Massachusettes and it almost bankrupt the state. Health insurance did not go down it went up.

I want everyone covered as well so do not think I am against some type of universal coverage. The damned if you do and damed if you don't gov mentality is just a bit much to swallow.

It is time to do this and it is time to do it now...right now....no matter what....is he serious...................

Nice speach in the beginning and nice speech in the end to get everyone on his bandwagon. The substance inbetween.....where was it?

How much will insurance cost that he calls affordable. Did anyone hear anything to do with that at all other than "you will buy insurance or be damned."

I am a single man. 500 a month will get me a some what decent policy but there is still a lot I have to pay for. That is a serious amount to swallow. Is this new wonder insurance for all going to cut that in half. Or does he think it is affordable for me right now???????????????

What is affordable to those who cannot afford it at all. If they truely cannot afford it then who is going to pay for it or will this add to the deficit. Oh yeah...not one thin dime to the deficit and this new plan will pay for itself and will not affect any other individual.

Sorry but there are only two sides to a mouth. Why suddenly does it appear that there are six sides to a mouth. Which side is he talking from about what subject.

A member of the so called SGR checking in here.

Mr. Miller wants to pretend that you can believe Obama this time. No really you can. Trust me.

The morons in both parties have raped the failing SS and Medicare funds to pay for their largess and now we are supposed to imagine that this time they will get it right on health care reform just because Obama is in charge.

Wake up sheeple. Time for a reality check.

The one thing in the speech which was missing which should have been there was this:

And, last but not least, ladies and gentlemen of the Congress, if a suitable and sustainable bill is not delivered to my desk for signing by September 30th, 2009, I will issue an Executive Order expanding the coverage of the health insurance policies for all members of Congress to include all not only all members of Congress but to additionally include all Citizens of the United States Of America.

Make your health coverage discussions and negotiations for the health care reform bill with this in mind: If the health insurance coverage is good enough for Congress and is paid for by the Citizens of the United States of America, that same health insurance coverage WILL BE provided to the all of the Citizens of the United States of America.

With that in mind ... act accordingly.

    Your President.

Your man did it daily, what's any different about the next President doing it? Nothing.

Besides, is that really illegal to make an Executive Order like that? Certainly not like those made by the previous administration.

I will make a prediction... This health care program will not pass and this president and this congress will go down in the books as the worst in the history of our country.

    I hope I'm wrong...

But that speech last night was one for the books. I do not recall any past president pitting one part of the country against the other in order to get people to go along with what he and congress is try to shove down our throats. He points out how bad the insurance companies are then he says what good thing he can do if we just send him our money and he will spend it for us and on us. what a nice guy...

I know you believe it but you can't prove it.

For the sake of demonstrating your illogic on this, even if Bush did and you thought it was wrong, what makes it OK for you to suggest your guy to do it now?

    Nothing.

    Ron,

Even if health care reform does not pass, no way can this administration come anywhere near close to being as bad as the previous administration - this country simply could not survive another administration even remotely close to the incompetency of the previous administration.

I saw this in an e-mail, wish I could take credit for the idea, but I can't.

There are 40 million (give or take) Americans of retirement age.

Give them each $1,000,000 to retire.
    - You now have 40 million people with spending capital - END OF ECONOMIC PROBLEMS.

    MAKE them retire.
    - You now have 40 million JOBS WHICH NEED TO BE FILLED - END OF UNEMPLOYMENT PROBLEMS.

    MAKE them buy health insurance.
    - You now have 40 million people in one group shopping together for health insurance and EVERY INSURANCE COMPANY falling all over themselves to become the insurance company, even split it up among the top four insurance companies who bring in the best plans - END OF HEALTH CARE PROBLEM.

MAKE them each buy a car.
    - You now have all auto companies trying to capture as much of that 40 million sales as they can - END OF AUTOMOBILE PROBLEM.

MAKE them each buy a house.
    - You now have 40 million people buying houses - END OF HOUSING PROBLEM.

Not sure it was exactly like that, but that is the idea.

Is giving 40 million people a million dollars each a lot of money? You bet.

Is it cheaper, better, and quicker than any other recovery plan talked about? You bet.

    Michael,

In your effort to always try to get people, you really do need to learn to read ...

... go back and re-read those posts and you will see that *I* did not state what the 40 million x 1 million was, I left that up to you guys (*I* *KNEW* it was $40 TRILLION), some others, though, came up with different math.

This discussion is following a line similiar to one I had with an old friend yesterday. One point came up during that discussion that I honestly, didn't know the answer and actually was stumped.
So, I would like to poise the same question to you gentlemen.
As I'm sure all of you are aware, the US has become a debtor nation. The total debt is growing each day. That's common knowledge.
Here's the question: What happens if the US defaults and cannot repay the debit? Does China repo the US?

You'll all be happy to know Canada's economy is beginning to come out of the recession and the Cdn. dollar is gaining strength against the greenback.

The stores are busy, gas is 95 cents a litre, people are eating out and homes are selling.

I have some extra money to invest, does anyone know how to get a hold of Bernie Madoff. He is not listed in the phone book, and I can't get a hold of his wife or the kids.

What no one seams to realize is that we are not paying into social security for us. We are paying into social security for folks already collecting it. As far as senators and such not paying into it is a joke.

They collect their pension and tax payers are paying for that so for them not to pay into social security for others is an absolute sin.

For them to serve for four years and collect retirement for eternity is an absolute insult to the injury they are already causing.

There is nothing they make that is not paid for buy tax payers, directly. They should not be able to vote on anything for themselves to do with their own compensation. If they are ever to get a raise or benefit then the public should say yes or no, not themselves.
