    Default Furnae vent

Does furnace vent have to rise vertically 12 inches prior to making any bends.

Check the manufacturer's specs... that being said, the vent looks very amateurishly installed. My 'radar' would definitely be heightened.

    Matt,
This is what a vent install looks like when the technician does not own a set of crimpers and has to rely on fittings. At least the Maxitrol regulator is installed properly with a the tower up and a vent limiter installed.

    Matt,
A " pic" of what ? The regulator was in the photo you posted. Sorry if I missed something.

Run the vent as specified by the manufacturer, and if not specified, come off the furnace, 90 up vertically for 1 foot minimum, then turn horizontal if needed.
