Default wire to garage feed from from pump circuit

I just observed, were the wiring for the garage was fed from the 240 circuit that feeds this house submersible pump. The breaker is a 120/240. 20 amp., double pole.

Now, even if there was a neutral grounded wire available at this location, is there any thing that would prohibit this practice in the NEC 2005 or NEC 2008, I been looking, but haven't found it yet.

    Thanks!

I don't know the code rule, but it is simply bad practice to put any other load on your well pump feed. A garage is likely to see some higher loads from power tools, etc. It is wrong, and asking for trouble. Hope this helps a bit.
