Default We have some great roofing framers here

Seems I have had a load of roof framing issues lately. Here is the latest. I have not seen the use of a 2x4 and a 2x6 stacked to make a valley rafter. Also, there was no Purlin under the valley rafter, it was 4" wider that the ridge board, and it was bearing on this flimsy looking cripple wall.

If it weren't for lawyers, we would never need them.

Looks like "whiteboy" framing to me. The messcans around here wouldn't do that kind of work.

FB: To call that "framing" is a stretch. E. Ray Cox, the old codger who taught me roof framing in the mid-70s would have beaten that crap down to the ground with a rig axe; charged the workers for the materials; and had them reframe it propery on their own time. Then he would have handed them their walking papers.

In that third pic, you can see the toenails coming out of the rafter ends before going into the hip rafter. Hope the sheathing is well nailed!

Makes me thankful for manufactured trusses, which is all they ever use in my area.
