Why not go the extra mile and have a remote coil located in the air handler to cool the house?

    On a cold day?

Better to have it out where the water heater is, and, if in a garage, use it to cool the garage (even on a cold day as it is not as bad as cooling the house you are trying to heat).

We here in southern new england still don't see the amount of heat pumps that the warmer climates do, even with the scroll comps and the lower outdoor temps they can effectivly run at. The thing that contractors are pushing now are the geo thermal heat pumps ( I still call them ground source, but geo thermal sounds more efficient to the customer). The problem around here is the amount of wells needed for a good size house. It can get very expensive.
