Wrong pipe flashing

Hope this is the right place for this.

I am having a new roof itstalled in a 1/12 pitch roof and I noticed the pipe flashings the roofer is installing are for a 4/12 or steeper roof.

I think they look wrong! as they angle backwards.

Anybody see a problem now or later other than cosmetic?

Binding the rubber inserts or undue stresses?

Is this a shingle roof?
If so, Wrong.
You should not use shingles on a 1 in 12 pitch.
And as for the flashings, they (what you described) are not designed for flat roofs.

That is because 4/12 is the standard (minimum) slope for shingled roofs.

Could you describe the flashings, material, shape, etc.?

Standard lead flashings are adjustable for roof slope from dead level to ... well, quite steep, the corrugations around the base allow for that flexibility.

The standard minimum slope is 2-1/2 in 12 as I recall.

OK, maybe standard was not the best word to use, perhaps "rule of thumb", or "typical" would have been a better choice. Some manufactures allow 2/12 (as best I can remember) if certain underlayment requirements are met.

While I am not that familiar with the membrane roofing, and we don't have a picture of the pipe collar, from your description it definitely sounds wrong. Looking around a little it seems that the self adhesive collar is the standard, excuse me, I meant typical collar.

Hi Chris

Here is a picture of a similar flashing.

The pags says to 40 degrees but picture it laying flat with the high side toward the bottom of the roof.

I noticed today the roofing material surrounds the raised portion of the flashing leaving a small puddle at the lower side?

When I was a kid and did roofing the lower side was open and flashing was showing so it could drain.

I'll take a picture tomorrow and post it.
