    Default Toilet shut off valve

    Any thoughts on why these were installed. Several toilets in the home were like this.

    It has been posted here before where someone added a kitchen sink sprayer or hand held shower head at this location for a makeshift bidet.

    No telling why, other than what Bruce posted. When they correctly secure the PEX and the valve you might recommend that they remove it...

    Kitchen sprayer connection for cheap bidet. I have seen a few in various ethnicity / religion homes. I always recommend removing due to cross contamination issues.

    What you have now are dead-ends (health issue/plumbing violation) which are open to contamination.

    Poor man's bed pan/potty-chair/medical comode/diaper rinser/colostomy bag washer. The plumbing codes address the proper method of installing same, this is not one of them.

    Other possiblity wrong way to install an "insty-hot" feed to temper supply water (warm it) to prevent condensation on the toilet tank.

    Open port no vac breaker, no check, syphon, and dead end to valve is no good - especially in such a contamination prone zone below flood rim of toilet bowl!

    Unsupported/unprotected pex through floor exposed no protection from damage - plastic disk/flange on floor NG either, S/B metal.
