    Default Abandoned Chimneys Still Functional

Inspected a 80 year old house the other day and found three chimneys that have been cut off below the roof line and then the roof was filled in and shingled over. There was two thimbles in each chimney (in different rooms) that were still intact and could be used for a wood stove or oil/gas heater. The buyer was an investor who was going to rent the house so I told him he should make the thimbles unusable so someone would not burn the house down by accident. The second picture is the vent for a gas heater installed in a bedroom in the house. The house was in need of some serious repairs!
