Default NCCI, ever heard of 'em?

Received an email from National Creditors Connection today. Seems that they are soliciting inspectors to perform some work for them. Anyone done any work for them? The last outfit that I did any similar work for went belly up owing for a few jobs & I wanted to put out some feelers on this one before even replying to them...

    Good afternoon Alton,
I received your information from the Society of Field Inspectors (SOFI) and want you to be aware of the services we provide in Osceola and the surrounding areas that may be of interest and beneficial to you. We have a few departments here at NCCI; however, our Field Inspection department is the department our contractors sign up for. Below is a summary of these services, and I also attached our credentialing packet for you to fill out if you would like to be an independent contractor. Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns.

Field Inspections: We have local businesses (car dealerships/mortgage-insurance companies/banks/churches/government offices) who put in an application to a credit bureau or credit reporting agency because they would like to use information which requires using individuals ssn’s and confidential information. Having said that, before the credit bureau allows any business to pull sensitive credit information, the businesses need to be inspected to verify they are doing business as they say they are, and that they have the proper business equipment (shredder machine/locking file cabinets/computer) to use such information. All the business are aware of the inspection; therefore, no hostile or irate situations will arise, and most businesses are very eager to have the inspection conducted. Inspections require about 5-6 photos (a couple exterior and photos of their businesses equipment, and we will provide you will the photo requirements per inspection) and we will also provide you with a short questionnaire which is for your use only, and these are simple yes or no questions you answer after you observe the facility. This process is anywhere from 10-15 minutes. Afterwards, you would upload the photos and questionnaire to our website.

Being an Independent Contractor costs nothing to you. If interested, you will be made active in our database and we will contact you once we have an assignment in your area. It is your decision whether or not you would like to accept the work to be compensated. We will never make you feel obligated.

Thank you so much, I look forward to hearing from you!

FYI, typically field inspections pay pretty low. Last call I had, they wanted to pay $7 to take a picture of a house from the street and $20 to take pictures from all 4 sides of the house. Then $35 to take the 4 pictures, make contact with the owner if possible and fill-in a 1 page report on the condition of the home. I told them that if they could give me 25 address at one time and all within 5 miles of my location I could take care of it for them. They said they could not guarantee me anything. Actually, I was going to give them to my son-in-law to complete and get the money. It never worked out.

Field inspections just do not pay enough unless you can get a bunch of them in a small area to knockout in one afternoon. I still do draw inspections, and will continue to do them. When DDN went belly up I only lost a couple hundred, and now other jobbers have picked up their old clients.

Something else to think about is just how many business in your area are changing credit card providers, getting new loans, etc? I would think that unless you are in a major city the numbers will be low and even in a major city I bet it would not be all that many.

Thanks Scott, that's pretty much what I was thinking on all this as far as fees & such. Had already made up my mind to give this one a pass, seems like many of these firms come & go on a regular basis.

I only performed one like this. I never got paid. Other than a few phone calls and emails, $50 wasn't enough to pursue. The company was called Shure-Trac.

The above statements are expressed solely as my opinion and in all probability will conflict with someone else's.
