    Default Insurance Coverage

Hi, I am just starting out as an inspector and was wondering which insurance companies you recommend for e&o as well as liability. Any other suggestions you have as far as insurance policies would also be helpful. Thanks in advance, Joe.

Welcome to the board Joe. Some companies to check out are Allen Insurance, FREA, and OREP. I'm sure there are others but these are the three that come to mind.

    Joe, Nick and Dave-

Joe-- You have many choices for errors and omissions insurance. FREA, Allen and OREP being the largest in the industry. In the last 5 years, probably 10 additional carriers have gotten in the business. One of which is First Indemnity Insurance.

We have comprehensive coverage, great rates and (IMHO) great customer service!

As the new guys on the block we have to provide "something". In general, we have provided lower rates, better customer service and new/better coverages that were not covered in the past by the historical companies.

Please give use a chance to earn your business. At the very least you will keep the other guys on their toes. In most cases you will get a better rate and better coverage.

Good luck in your search and welcome to the business.

I use Business Risk Partners (BRP), they off GL with their E&O and many other coverages that some of the others charge extra for. Note: If you have taken and passed the NHIE they will give you a discount, you just need to provide the proof of passing. They also offer a higher deductible that will give you a lower premium.

I also have a standalone business GL policy with a conventional insurance company.

I do not sell insurance, I'm a home inspector!

BRP Is a good company--I would get a quote with them as well. The basic message I would convey is-- shop around. See if the agent/broker/company knows HI e and o and what the coverages are.

Thanks and have a great day!

I see that Mr. John Remark has already replied with his information and would like to highly recommend his company. We have been inspecting homes for 9 years now and have tried both FREA and Allen Insurance. We were not very happy with either company because the cost of insurance was so outrageous. Mr. Remark has provided the best coverage, excellent customer service, and low prices all in one places... I would recommend this company to any inspector in the business!
