Default white spots in exposed aggregate

saw 8 -10 spots on the surface of the aggregate surface. it was hard and raised and white like a calcium buildup. Is this a chemical inbalance problem or a problem with the marcite? or nothing? how do you fix it it. is it an acid wash?
    Thanks!
