    Default 1938 Boiler Pic

Thought I'd post this for interest sake.

Installed when the house was built in 1938. The coal door still exists but has long been out of use. I imagine it was converted to oil then to gas. The bucket sits below the pressure relief valve extension pipe. It is being sealed where it stands and a new forced-air furnace is being installed this spring.

Looks like a nice thick jacket of asbestos on that sucker. We cleaned out my Grandmom's house in 2003 and the boiler was original to the house.......1898. It was covered with asbestos and looked very much like this one.
