    Default Furnace Closet

    - Gas-fired furnace is located in a closet of the interior of the home.

-The return chase is located below the closet and is sealed tight, no leaks into wall cavities.

    - The ceiling is sheetrocked with only the furnace flue and the combustion air tube penetrating through.

    - Gas lines and electrical penetrates through the sheetrocked walls. A 2" diameter hole was in the wall, also.

My question, with the return air chase being properly sealed, it is required for the penetrations through the closet ceiling and walls need to be sealed? If they are required, please provide code reference.

    Thanks,

    Brian
