Default Almost 50 and I still got that Bounce

Thursday morning 8:30 arrive on site
    Unload ladder and tools.
Notice ceilings are all 10' tall T&G 1x4 (100 year old home)
8:45 set up ladder under access hole
I climbed the ladder into attic, one foot on the ladder and one on the joist.
Moved the foot on the ladder to joist
Placed other foot on top plate of wall
Started to take a step, when I realized I was NOT on the top plate, but standing on the ceiling.
    8:45:22 fall through ceiling
Ceiling gave way like a trap door
8:45:22:001 Rapid desent suddenly stopped by contact with floor.
8:55 Load up tools and head to the office

Somewhat scratched up, a little bruised and sore, but not hurt.
First time in over 20 years, I hope the last.

    Ouch!

    Double OUCH!

The first ouch is for the fall through the ceiling.

The second ouch is that the ceiling was T&G and not drywall, which would be a lot easier to repair.

    Rick,
Glad you're OK. Hope the ceiling repair isn't too big of a deal for you.

If that's the worst thing that happens to you this month, you are still ahead of the game. You are walking, you can get onto this forum and talk about it, and you are still on the top side of the green stuff.

Just how high is that bounce??

53 yrs old here. I'm with ya on the, "I've still got that Bounce".

As a much younger lad, I received my Master Parachutist Wings by performing tooooo many "bounces".... My body now tells me how I accellerated all the little aches and pains normally associated with my age to the point of having taken one like you did, I might be seeking a lil ole Philipino massage therapist to perform a miracle on.

Hell, that's not a bad idea anyway...

As the repair goes it's not to bad. It's a house I bought, in the prosess of remodleing to rent out.

I'm glad your legs were between the joists and not the other way around.

My guess is you'll be munching the Alieve tomorrow.

The only reason some people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory.

I'm going back up today, allbeit with hesitation, to start on the roof. 15' up, and 8/12 pitch. If you don't hear back from me....
