    Default Cracked drywall

Is anyone familiar with what the cause of this drywall cracking might be?
The house is 12 years old and they have a large patched horizontal area at the right and then a fine vertical crack in the middle.

The picture is too blotchy to see anything.

Typically, the cause is improper finishing techniques (tape, mud, etc)and/or improper drywall fastening methods. Or, something moved.

Looks like the large patch is at the plate line, if this is a stick built roof, my guess would be that it is trying to spread out a little bit.

    Truss uplift?

If that is not a dropped false bottom cord and they framed the wall up to the bottom chord, then truss uplift could cause a crack right along that line.
