    Default Squirrels?

I had a lady call me today, she said she had a couple of leaks, both were quite easy to find . One was on the breezeway and the other was leaking through a roof vent.

My question is do you think that a squirrel would chew through aluminum, or is this something else?

Looks like squirrels to me. They have to be constantly gnawing on something to keep their teeth (incisors) worn down.

Yes, I'd go with squirrels. They are chewing fools like most rodents.

That squirrel from that first picture must have been pretty fat to cave the roof in like that

Does that roof have any slope at all? The seams don't look like they're sealed at all.

    John,

I have to ask. What does your comment about the Alamo mean?

That's what I was hoping for, I guess I'll watch for a squirrel that is having trouble jumping from limb to limb so I'll know who the culprit is.

Yea, I forget that they are rodents, I guess it's because they are so darn cute and make such a good stew.

Must be all of the aluminum he has been eating.

This was is an older couple that hired someone to build a breezeway so they could get from the carport to the house without getting wet.

It is about 6'x12' It has about 4" of fall/slope, no beams, it is built with 2x6's and the only thing holding them up is the sub-facia, OSB and roll roofing on top, vinyl soffit underneath.

It has been leaking since it was built and has deteriorated the sheathing to the point it is collapsing. The idiots that built this keep us both in business, but I hate it for the homeowners.

    Sorry, Rick.

    Injun scouts with squirrel guns,
    Men with muzzle loaders,
    Stood together, heel and toe.
    To defend the Alamo.
