Inspected a 40 year old home with a wood burning fireplace in the center of the house. The laundry room and water heater closet backed right up to the fireplace. cathedral ceilings so no attic. As I was inspecting the roof, I noticed that I could not account for a termination for the water heater and dryer vent. So where are these things venting??? I wish I could have been there to take some pics when they opened it up. They both had been venting into the fireplace chase for 40 years. The buyer called and told me that the chase was just full of dryer lint and the water heater vented right there as well. I can't believe that place did not burn down. Maybe dryer lint isn't flamable
