    Default Ground Wire

    Is stranded aluminum wire allowed to be used as the grounding conductor for the system ground? It is attached to a copper water pipe.

    Are you sure its not a bonding jumper??
    If it is a ground I believe its required to be attached to the supply within 5ft upon entering the structure.
    Most of the time the bonding of the piping (water & gas) is done at the water heater.

    Oh and as far as usting stranded Al, I am unsure. However, I dont see what could be a problem...
