    Default Condensate trapping for Fedders wall-mount electric furnace

    Well, son of a gun.

    Fedders gave me that name of of a guy who knows everything there is to know about these units, and who faxed me the original installation instructions ("Al" at RSI Inc, 800-221-1000 on the very slim chance that someone will subsequently find this thread via a search .."I don't believe I've open that file cabinet for 20 years".

    And darned if they don't specify a P trap on that condensate line - as well as a secondary drain pan when installed "over an occupied area".

    So we we now know that at least as early as 1974 (the date of this unit's manufacture), at least some manufacturers already required trapping of the condensate line.
