    Default Deck beam support!

This deck beam is connected to metal bracket that is located above the corner of a sliding glass door. As you can see from the photos there is no way that this has adequate support below it. Is it possible that the metal bracket is hung off the rim joist above? Either way this is not good, there was alot of wood rot around the metal bracket. This is located at basement level.

Is that a hanger or a pocket that the deck beam is sitting in?

If it is a metal pocket it is most likely attached to the rim joist, but we don't know that for sure. With all of that staining and rot, I can safely assume that the deck does not have proper flashing.

If it is a hanger then it is should be directly on the rim joist and not on the siding.

Either way it is in need of help....

Yeah it's a metal pocket, and yes the deck does not have proper flashing installed, however it's got and roof structure above it.
