I have been reading the board for about ten months and think everyone is great. I have 29 years in construction and contracting, but I'm new to this side of inspections. I really love the questions that must seem stupid to everyone else, so here's another one. With regard to heater vent pipes; When the minimum clearance is observed through a wall or ceiling, is a metal flashing acceptable to maintain the fire rating or does it conduct the heat and negate the clearance. Also, should it be clamped to the stack and sealed with high temp caulking or other sealant.
Thanks so muck!
Tom
