    Perhaps you mean a chimney pot? It goes over (decorative cover) the flue tile. They're usually clay too.

    Yes Michael, that is a chimney pot. They can come in a variety of shapes and sizes and are usually quite heavy. This one appears to have a metal flue liner inside.
