Default 200 amp service with a 225 service panel

Probably a simple answer to a simple question but how do you have 200 amp incoming service and have a 225 service panel with a 225 disconnect?

    Thanks,

    Jim

The demand load calculation for the home determines the size service required. If you have a 200 amp service and the service entrance conductors were sized for 200 amps you could not connect them to service equipment with ocpd of 225 amp.

Jim, are you talking "incoming service" from the utility company? If so, its their property and they can size it as they see fit. Also with overhead service if I remember correctly, since the wires are not in a conduit and exposed to weather, cold, rain etc. they can get by with a even smaller gauge wire due to less heat buildup. I am sure some experts will be along soon quoting all kinds of codes.
