The new Ole Miss mascot!

As you may have heard, The University of Mississippi, aka Ole Miss held a contest for a new mascot so that the school would be PC and not offend anyone with their old 80 year old mascot. The mascot that was apparently offending folks was the Southern Colonel Reb figure.

The new mascot is the "Black Bear", yep the bear is the mascot for the Rebels! The school teams will still be called the Ole Miss Rebels.

I wondered just how long Ole Miss was going to get by with that obviously looking plantation owner. Instead of a black bear they should adopt Robert E. Lee. Is not PETA going after the names of animals for sports identifications which is going to effect a whole lot of colleges. Maybe everyone will be safe with colors, like Syracuse Orange, wait a minute, that would not work for the Catholic Irish.

By the way Your Roadrunner Mascot needs changed to something less offensive to other people that have no involvement in your community but just want to voice their concern.
