    Default water heater age

    This one has me stumped. From my understanding A.O. Smith 2nd digit is the month 3 & 4 are the year?

    S# 1012A020099

    Did you see any alpha characters at the beginning?

    2nd character, typically A-M is the month
    and the 3rd and 4th the year

    How old was the house and how old did the unit look?

    And I would have been wrong. Just Checked the warranty link on the AO Smith web page
    Unit was manufactured on 3/24/2010 meaning first two digits are now year and next two are week number
