Both ends of the same cable. Yep, still other wire in the conduit.

    Just curious....

Are the first 3 photos based on condition in place, or by removal of electrical cover plate?

Removal of cover plate. Not much that got plugged in in the kitchen worked right or didn't trip a breaker. I had been hired to rewire the kitchen and this is what I was finding as I started removing stuff.

    Bill,

The second photos shows the white conductors on the 'hot' terminal screws ... I guess who ever wired that just connected whatever was closest to the terminal to the terminal?

I'm not sure of the mindset. 8 receptacles in the kitchen and every single one had a different problem.
