    Default Suicide Vent

The elderly lady at the home I inspected Saturday kept mentioning how she thought her family was trying to get rid of her. I thought she meant like sending her off to a nursing home till I seen this. Yikes!

Bruce's comment below is correct. This thread should have been titled Attempted Homicide Vent

It just I can't edit the title now.

It's not suicide unless you do it to yourself.

That device forces rodents to bring tiny chain saws and wear fire suits to gain entry. Truly, it's a Darwin contender.

Any idea how long that has been like that?

Some pretty good signs of condensation on top of the tank.

I ran across this while doing a FEMA disaster inspection after Katrina. The water heater was located in the family room. I advised the elderly owner to call a plumber and have the WH vent repaired immediately.
