    Default Service meter

    Hello,

Inspected a 2008 house today that had the power meter labeled CL-100 with a 200 amp disconnect in the service panel. The wiring was correct in terms of size but is this right? 99/100 meters are CL-200 with 200 disconnects.

    Thanks,

MOST of the time this is an indication that a job never had an electrical inspection. Of course there are those utilities who insist on using historical data to size all their stuff and may not have changed the meter when the service was upgraded.

I'd say step one is checking permit history and step two is asking the utility if they know the situation exists.

It is a new house, Bill.

Good chance the person who installed the meter was not aware. Good catch!
