    Default How many wires per nut

    Is there a standard of haw many wires can be secured under 1 wire nut?

    This one has 5.

    It depends. The information is included on the packaging for the connectors. A typical connector like that is good for 5 #12s, but should be checked.

    All answers based on unamended National Electrical codes.

    If you don't have the manufacture's chart handy, each manufacturer will have a have a link on their site to a document with the UL listing for each model and size of their connectors. For example here's the

    Ideal Industries listing for their standard "Wire-Nut" type connectors.
