Is that a converted garage? I like the spray foam at the base of the toilet.

Those cast iron radiators which are designed to stand upright and vertical ... how well do they work horizontally installed like that?

We see them installed like that in garages every once in a while. That's what makes me wonder if this is a converted garage.....and the floor drain too.

I like it. For the shower, let me guess. Do you open the drain cock on the radiator?

Well, if nothing else you have plenty of leg room to maneuver in that bathroom.

Nope. Row house basement. Very odd.
There's another radiator levitating in the front of the basement, and an abandoned circulator up at that level in the middle of the basement, in addition to the circulator at the boiler.

Like Nick, I've seen them like this in garages, and I remember some of them working just great. Others have been disconnected over the years.

I imagine the hot water circulates thru the upper side and eventually heats the whole unit. A long pipe with fins would probably work better, but that would be boring.

They have bigger things to worry about there - those outlets and wet feet on a tiled basement floor.

I'm 6'3" and that radiator looks like a head-knocker to me! Cast iron is so unforgiving.
