    Default Fire Sprinkler Head Cleaning

Is there any regulatory site that states when and how fire sprinkler heads should be cleaned. I've reviewed NFPA 25 and didn't find anything. I'm the safety rep at a facility with several thousand sprinklers. Many are covered in thick dust and cob webs and I'm getting flack from maintenance saying they can not be dusted or cleaned; that they can only be replaced with ne ones.
