    Default Gas pipe saddle valve

Came across this today. 1st time ever. Is it allowed? My 1st response would be absolutly not. Your thoughts.

This is tapped into a pipe feeding furnace. Tap goes to an outside grill.

Illinos does not allow saddle fittings of any type for gas, water, or drainage.

Those people are lucky there is still a house there to inspect. Unbelievable.

I sure would not trust a saddle valve.
That one looks older and not sure what type of gasket is involved.
Certainly would have checked it for leaks.

I did check it for leaks, and discussed replacing the pipe that has the saddle valve on it. Thanks for the input.
