    No, they need to be vertical. Their install instructions or guidelines from the manufacturer tell it all.

    And this part of Scott's "Their install instructions or guidelines from the manufacturer tell it all." answer is correct, and the installation instructions will typically state 'to install vertically or not more than 15 degrees from vertical'. Which makes Wayne's answer correct too.
