    Default non inspector at inspections

    Hi Guys and Girls!
It looks like I will need to have some in-office surgery at my doctor. Not sure when I will have this, but my doc knows I'm an inspector and says I won't be able to carry ladders and strenuous stuff for at least 2 weeks.
Question: is it unethical to have a helper, not an inspector, to help you during an inspection?
Just wondering. (sounds like a dumb question, but I've never had a helper)

    Thanks!

No problem as long as they are under your direct supervision and not "inspecting" just accommodating your disability.

I see nothing unethical about having a helper...good luck!

Not an issue at all. The inspector's name is on the report and is the one taking responsibility for its completion. We've had this issue a once, when Bob wasn't able to drive or carry ladders; our college-age son went along as his assistant.

Your Client may be wondering if they are paying to much when you show up in a Llimo with a Driver. Then really worry as the Driver carries your bag while a stenographer takes dictation..... Or on the other hand it does add an air of professionalism...

The seller has a potential liability while anyone is on their property... but that is not your worry.

Rather than paying a helper, look for a new inspector that wants ride-along inspections. This way the helper pays you.

Dave, you need to check with the BTR... AZ has some quirks in it's license law that other states do not have, so I would clear it with them first.
